Panel edgebanding
We specialise in professionally edged panels using laser and PUR glue technology for a superior finish and excellent tape-to-panel adhesion. This advanced procedure also seals edges effective to guard against water damage or penetration. Our machines feature a near-infrared laser gluing station, meaning we are able to apply special edging tape that won’t leave visible joint lins.
Straight panels can be edgebanded as narrow as 20mm in width and as short as 30mm in length. It’s also possible to edgeband panels cut at an angle. We can apply edging tape to panels up to 60mm in height.
For all sizes, our machine will be programmed specifically to your decor board to ensure a perfectly fitting edging tape.
Our edgebanding process
PUR glue
We use high-end edgebanders that use pPolyurethane reactive hot melt glue for a solid bond and immediate edgeband adhesion. PUR glue is extremely flexible so can withstand
a wider range of temperatures and is water impenetrable. The PUR glue option is perfect where there will be a range of climate conditions and, unlike traditional hot melt adhesives, less than half the amount of glue is required so the overall glue line is thinner and the end result looks better.
Laser technology
Laser bonding technology allows for the edgeband and board to be permanently bonded without glue – therefore there is no visible joint line. Instead of glue, an innovative near-infrared laser melts the board layer to the bottom of the edgeband, bonding them together permanently and enabling with an invisible bond and absolutely no adhesive, although not proving as strong as PUR glue.
Tape finishing edgebanding options
ABS edgeband
1 mm thick
Discreet with a reasonably strong edge surface. Can be milled to two different finishes—radius and square.
Radius finish
Visually appealing and smooth to the touch, a one-millimetre rounded shape is milled to both sides of the tape and corners for a balance of precision and functionality.
Square finish
Blending precision with sharp lines. The tape is cut flat to the board surface for a square edgebanding and corner look. Generally this look suits darker colours better.
ABS edgeband
2 mm thick
Greater durability but a less subtle finish. obtrusive. Can be milled to two different finishes—radius and bevel.
Radius finish
Visually appealing and smooth to the touch, a two-millimetre rounded shape is milled to both sides of the tape and corners creating a classic look. Ideal for bedroom furniture.
Bevel finish
A more dramatic and unique look. The tape is milled at 45° bevel giving both sides of the edgebanding tape and corners a modern, diamond-cut look and robust edge finish. Generally works best on flat colours.
Paintable preparation tape
0.3mm thick
Uses preparation tape to seal the edges of an MDF board, eliminating the need to fill and sand edges and providing the ideal surface for painting – whether at home or in a factory. hand painting at home or spray-painting in a factory.
Radius finish
Visually appealing and smooth to the touch, one-millimetre rounded shape is milled to both sides of the tape and corners creating a classic look an preparing the surface for painting.
Square finish
Blending precision with sharp lines. The tape is cut flat to the board surface for a square edgebanding and corner look. The end piece can be sandpapered before painting to your preferred level of roundness.
Solid wood
Edging finish options
We can match all our veneered boards to the same wood edging for a streamlined appearance. Veneered panels can usually be edged with 0.6mm, 1mm and 2mm edging tapes, with three different edge finishes: radius, bevel and square, depending on the level of tape thickness.
